The Coroner has now released his report into the sad death of Mrs Dougan on the Midland Highway in 2012 while travelling to the Toy Run.
The Coroner has now released his report into the sad death of Mrs Dougan on the Midland Highway in 2012 while travelling to the Toy Run.
It was found that inexperience at riding in adverse weather conditions contributed to the crash, and that if rub rail had been fitted to the Armco, Mrs Dougan may have survived.
The Coroner also noted that a large teddy bear strapped to the back of the motorcycle acted as a sail, making the motorcycle harder to control in gusty wind.
Inexperience is a factor in over a third of all motorcycle crashes in Tasmania.
